Mary Immaculate Presents
2012 Fall Festival!

A Big “Thank You” to our 2012 Sponsors & Volunteers:

Festival Raffle Ticket Sponsor:  TaCito Direct Company

It’s no secret that the parish Fall Festival is a huge community event – many people have expressed year after year the great effort of many of our parishioners and ministries as they come together for one purpose every year – to eat and have loads of fun during our Fall Festival!   Here are some fun facts to digest while we look forward to the 2012 Mary Immaculate Fall Festival!

Festival Committees

How does it all come together?
It’s a huge effort from the planning stages to the wrap up meeting and celebration.  Already we greatly appreciate all of the groups and individuals who come together year after year to make it all happen.

If you are interested in serving on any of the committees below, we’d love to make use of your talents!  This year the Festival Chairs are meeting with the separate large committees, and then they will convene with all committees a few times over the summer months.  We end with a wrap-up celebration to de-brief our wonderful volunteers, and make notes for next year.

FALL FESTIVAL HISTORICAL FACTS

Festival:
  • The Fall Festival began in October 2002, in anticipation of building the new church, as a fundraiser for the new church building fund.
  • In the past we had Mayfair, which was run by the school only. The Fall Festival was the first parish-wide event. Mayfair ended when the Fall Fest began. The auction and Mayfair used to be one event. The school began the End of Year picnic instead and had already moved the Heart of Gold Auction to February.
  • Since the school was used to running the games at Mayfair (dunk tank, cake walk, 2-liter bottle ring toss and kiddie games), MIS kept ownership of the games.

Games:

  • The first year we had the Fall Festival, we had about (6) games, a ton of food, a raffle and no carnival rides. The rides came a few years later, once we talked Fr. Bradley into it!  Don’t forget that on Friday, Oct. 5th, we will have Friday Night Ride Preview from 6 to 10 p.m. You can go on any ride as many times as you wish for only $15!

Raffle:

  • At Mayfair, the only raffle we had was a homemade quilt from each Kindergarten.  The tickets sold for $1, and the proceeds went to the Kindergarten program.
  • The first Raffle was in 2001, one year before the first Fall Festival.  The grand prize was a Chrysler PT Cruiser. The couple who won was Albert and Lois Lescovitz.  It was on a Saturday morning and Al told his wife he was going to the church to win a car, since he had purchased a raffle ticket.  She laughed at him and was stunned when he came home and told her that he had won!
Entertainment:
  • The first Fall Festival entertainment comes from groups in the parish or groups that a parishioner may be involved with.  Anyone with a group who would like to participate can contact Mary Mahaffey at maryfrances10@gmail.comt

Baskets:
  • The Basket Game was brought to Mary Immaculate in 2008 by Fr. Michael, carried over from his former parish in Terrell. This year the baskets that are raffled during the festival will be theme baskets! So, if you’d like to take a chance on an entertainment basket, a garden basket, a sports basket, baby basket, picnic basket, or other themed baskets, there will be plenty for you to browse and buy your chance to win!. Be sure and stop by the “wish list tree” and pick up an item to
