Matthew: The King and His Kingdom

Bible study begins September 15 with a 24-week study called “Matthew: The King and His Kingdom”.  The fee for this course is $32, and forms are available in the Narthex and online. Only paid registrations will be accepted, as these classes are limited in space.  The classes will be held each Thursday in Conference Room 128, and you can choose either 10 a.m. or 7 p.m.  For more information, contact Beth in the office of Evangelization.

All the men, women and youth of the parish are invited to an Evangelization Workshop: Sharing Your Faith Story after 8:am Mass until 12 noon on Saturday, September 24, 2016, in the Library. Nancy Ward shares her conversion story and Larry Lenzen, III, his renewal story. They will teach you the skills to share your faith story. The cost is only $10.  Registration deadline is September 16. For questions or registration contact: Call Beth Crouch, Director of Evangelization, at 972-243-7104 ext. 46.  Click HERE for more information.

at MARY IMMACULATE CHURCH, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Have you always wanted to learn how to make a rosary?

Come to the Church Conference Room the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. and learn to make simple beaded rosaries (like the one HERE). Mary Immaculate Church provides rosaries for the religious education students, for missions, and for the new parishioner welcome bags from the Welcome Committee.  We hope you will bring your children, too!  It’s a fun once-a-month workshop that will bring your family together with other families eager to share their faith in community!

Don’t have time on Saturdays? You can always come by and pick up materials to take home with you.  How much fun would it be to make rosaries in front of a good family movie or even better, while teaching children to pray the Rosary!

Have you always wanted to know more about your faith? Join us every Tuesday evening beginning September 6 at 7 p.m. in the Church Conference Room (across from the parish offices) to learn more about the Catholic Faith. Bob Lawrence, a parishioner with many years of experience leading catechetical studies and Bible studies, will explore topics ranging from the Papacy and Infallibility to Marriage, Scripture and Tradition, Sin and Suffering, and much more. Each Tuesday brings a different topic. No registration necessary and no fees involved. Just come in, sit a while and listen to topics of faith and morals in the Catholic Church.  Watch the bulletins each Sunday to find out what the next three week’s topics will be, or just come every Tuesday to hear our engaging speaker and leader, Bob Lawrence, teach you more about your faith!

Do You Welcome Visitors
To Your Parish?
Welcoming newcomers to your parish is not just the job of the pastoral staff, ushers, ministers of hospitality or greeters. It is everyone’s responsibility. Here are some  things you can do to provide better hospitality in your parish.
Cultivate the virtue of hospitality at Mass. Many Mass attendees tend to gather into little cliques and ignore those who are not members of their particular clique. They are not really inhospitable, just heedless of the need for hospitality. Make hospitality a new habit when you go to Mass.
Come early, leave late. Instead of rushing to Mass to be there on time, and then rushing out at its conclusion, make time to come a little early and linger just a bit later. Make room in your busy life to greet and spend time with others at Mass.
Go in peace to greet someone! Seek out someone you’ve not met before. Shake their hand, introduce yourself, and take a few moments to welcome them to your parish home, God’s house.
Welcome everyone. Not only do visitors need your warm welcome, regular Mass attendees also need a friendly greeting. Develop a good handshake and be enthusiastic about your parish. You are greeting others in the name of Christ.

Journey of Hope

In his book, “On Heaven and Earth”, Pope Francis is quoted stating that Divorced, Separated and Remarried Catholics should, "integrate into the parish life". If you look around, you will find that most Divorced, Remarried and Separated are not sitting in our pews. This is because many times the topic of Divorce makes us feel uncomfortable. We tend to shy away from asking or getting involved. Christ calls us to Charity for the poor and the needy. Our Divorced and Separated brothers and sisters are in need. Some are poor in spirit. As soldiers for Christ, we are called to evangelize by being inviting and attentive to those in need.

If you are separated or divorced, or know of a Catholic that has fallen away due to their Divorce or Separation, the road to healing is available through our Journey of Hope program here at Mary Immaculate!

Those seeking healing are invited to take the first step by attending our weekly meetings on Thursdays, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm in the Bride's Room.

A Stewardship Prayer

Our Blessed Lord!

Our Risen Savior!

We give you thanks

For the awe-inspiring gift of Easter

And the redemption we enjoy

As a result of your gift.

We give you thanks for calling us

your friends

and allowing us to share your body

and blood

in the holy Eucharist.

Oh merciful Lord,

Redeemer and Teacher,

by the power of the Holy Spirit

give us the skills to listen to you

more closely;

the wisdom to put

the Eucharist into action;

and the courage to bring

your Easter message of hope

to a world that desperately needs

your love

We ask this through Christ, our Lord.  Amen
